Okay, I devoured that ending like it was the last slice of cheesecake at a family gathering. Yes, the middle was stuffed with suspense, secrets, moral dilemmas, and all the other nutritious food groups of a good thriller — but I’m skipping straight to dessert. That finale did not quit. No dragging, no “let’s tie up every subplot with a lukewarm bow,” none of that nonsense. Everyone got the ending they deserved. Justice served. See what I did there?
Now, I could go on a whole “technology is terrifying and we’re sprinting toward the apocalypse with Bluetooth enabled” rant, but honestly? The book already did that for me. Loudly. Repeatedly. With flashing hazard lights.
Swerving back to our Passengers — whew. Their secrets were messy, juicy, morally questionable, and absolutely delicious. Ugly? Yes. Surprising? Also yes. A reminder that everyone has layers like a particularly dramatic parfait? Triple yes. Did I agree with all their choices? Absolutely not. Did that stop me from inhaling every reveal like popcorn? Also, absolutely not.
And then there’s Jack. My behated nemesis. My human red flag. My walking “do not trust” sign. I stand by every insult I’ve hurled at him. The man is a slime‑coated snot bubble with a government badge. The fact that he thinks he can just waltz back into his job after everything? Be serious. I am, without hesitation, Team Hacker in the Jack vs. Hack showdown.
Libby, though. LIBBY. My queen. My steady‑handed, soft‑hearted, steel‑spined heroine. She navigated that entire hack situation with more grace than I have when trying to carry all my groceries in one trip. She fought for the right people, tried to save the Passengers, and kept her head on straight even while the love of her life was basically within emotional arm’s reach. 5 stars and a couple snaps for Libby. I would’ve been a puddle by chapter ten.
I give this read 4 1/2 stars.
And finally — John Marrs. Sir. Mr. Author Man. This is only my second book of yours and you’ve already got me acting like a fan club president. You’ve hooked me. I’m in. I’m committed. I’m off to load up my TBR with the rest of your chaos‑infused creations.
If you’ve got favorites, drop them. I’m ready to spiral.
